Welcome to one the automotive worlds most exciting weeks. Monetery Car Week. In honor of the prestigious week we will be visiting 5 pre war classics you did’t know you could afford and would be proud to park on the lawns of Pebble Beach.
Packard. One of the most desirable automobiles ever created. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! To many Packard was the finest automobile produced in the United States. The marque built automobiles for the business mogul that had not only succeeded as an entrepreneur but was also so rich that they did not need to flaunt their hard earned wealth. Packard built class and everyone knew it.
The 1934 Packard 1100 was the marques entry level automobile starting at $2,820. However it was hardly spartan. The 1100 was powered by a 320 cubic inch straight eight that produced 120hp. With an interior fit for the countries finest the Packard does not disappoint. Only the most regal wood was used. The wood was paired with a gauge cluster than could be considered a masterpiece, the 1100’s interior is a reminder you have made it in this life.

I thought you said I’d be able to afford it?
My classic car budget was 3 grand!

If I recall correctly, the Bijur lubrication system was one of the centralized “tweak a handley thing and it pushes grease to everywhere through tubes” thingies. Neat.

I was unaware that is indeed interesting.

Monetary car week... huehuehue
Intentional play on words or fitting Freudian or spellcheck slip?
Great Packard, and nice series idea, though my budget tends to be 5k or less. Lots of Model A Ford basketcases for that money though, I’ve been looking.

Stupid slip on spelling. I hate doing that.
And yes I agree you could get a lot of cool Model A Fords for this price but a Packard would be at Pebble Beach. I'm not sure a Model A would.

HAha yeah, well there was a grabber blue 72 Mustang convertible that ALMOST stretched my budget to 3500. I probably could have negotiated down to 3, but 1972 = more emissions crap and a convertible = more roof crap to worry about, and that roof was a mess.

Your Monetgo looks better than a 72 Mustang ever could. The styling just wasn't there for me

I have an odd liking for Mustang Grande’s, that being said I’m much happier about the Montego than I would have been about the Mustang.
Besides, MustangMan doesn’t have as good of a ring to it.
